News-Press Stabs Freedom of the Press in the Face in Defense of Homophobia

Posted on Updated on

Taking on one of their own, more talented reporters, Mark Krzos, News-Press Executive Editor Terry Eberle attacked several of Mark Krzos’s civil liberties in one fell swoop after Kzros posted this on Facebook:

I have never felt so alien in my own country as I did today while covering the restaurant’s supporters. The level of hatred, unfounded fear and misinformed people was astoundingly sad. I can’t even print some of the things people said. …

It was like broken records of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and a recitation of half-truths and outright lies.

He was pressured to take the post down.

Ironically, Eberle did this  in defense of a tasteless, biased piece that touted free speech.  However, I guess free speech or freedom of the press don’t count when you are opposing the views of your managers.

What the article ignored is that Dan Cathy has basically created a hostile work environment for all his gay employees with his comments and that his company donates money to hate groups, including Marriage & Family Legacy Fund, Fellowship Of Christian Athletes, National Christian Foundation, Focus On The Family, Eagle Forum, Exodus International, and the Family Research Council.

Now the Family Research Council has actively lobbied congress ($250,000) not to condemn Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” bill, bill that would allow the execution of homosexuals.  So, when you eat at Chick-Fil-A you are basically eating dead gay people.

The News-Press article in question speaks of traditional marriage without actually citing what traditional marriage is according to the Bible that Dan Cathy is supposedly so concerned about.  Now, Dan Cathy should be free to practice his religion, but when you’re representing your company and making loony claims about gay marriage being an act of “shaking your fist at god” you should put it into context.  According the Bible, women should be forced to marry their rapists, men can have multiple wives and concubines, and disobedient children and people who chop wood on Saturday can be stoned.  Wouldn’t you think America’s other sins, like the slaughter of Native Americans, would be more likely to bring down the wrath of a loving diety?  Why is this guy so hung up on gay marriage?

It’s important to realize here that according to the Supreme Court any post on Facebook that is intended to spread information could fall under the protection of freedom of the press.  In Lovell v. City of Griffin, 303 U.S. 444 (1938), Chief Justice Hughes defined the press as, “every sort of publication which affords a vehicle of information and opinion.”

So, the News-Press is against freedom of the press now?

I think they better start worrying about the wrath of god, because they sure are shaking their fist at the god of the media.

If it were really about murder and torture, you’d also be protesting middle-eastern oil. Whenever you gas up, your money is going directly to support countries that put homosexuals to death. Oddly, Islam always seems to get a pass on the whole homosexuality issue.

    This Chick-Fil-A flap isn’t pro-Gay, it’s anti-Christian.

Are these allegedly “pro-Gay” protesters saying people should buy oil the profits of which DON’T support a regime that puts homosexuals to death? No. They’re opposing a Chicken restaurant because they’re Christian.

These protesters SAY they’re “pro-Gay” and they may even THINK they’re being “pro-Gay,” but really they’re anti-Christian.

Thank you, keep it courteous.
